Across the World, Together Above the Caldera

After ten countries and a move across the globe, Kirilly and Rikumi celebrated their wedding at El Viento Santorini. Their story began in Japan, where the excitement of a first date came with an unexpected sense of calm. From their early days in Higashiyamato to the little family they built with Howie and Hector, theirs was a relationship shaped by adventure and the comfort of everyday life together.

That combination gave their Santorini destination wedding its character: an extraordinary setting, vivid colour and a celebration that felt personal. Overlooking the caldera, El Viento brought the island’s landscape into the ceremony, with open sea and sky surrounding the people and details that mattered to them.

A Ceremony in Full Colour

Yellow, peach, pink and purple flowers framed the ceremony against the blue caldera. Their warm, varied palette gave the terrace a joyful feel, adding texture and colour without hiding the view. For an El Viento Santorini wedding, this relationship between the ceremony design and the surrounding landscape is an essential part of the visual story.

Kirilly’s white gown featured a delicate floral bodice, while Rikumi wore traditional Japanese attire. These details gave their wedding a distinctive identity, connecting the wider setting with the people at its centre. After the ceremony, guests showered them with petals as they walked hand in hand: a moment of movement, smiles and celebration that translates beautifully into film.

The Landscape Within the Celebration

A wedding overlooking the Santorini caldera offers a remarkable sense of space. At El Viento, the terrace allows the ceremony and the view to share the frame, while closer compositions bring attention back to an expression, the texture of a gown or hands held together. Moving between these perspectives gives a wedding film both a sense of place and intimacy.

The island’s changing light adds another dimension. Clear Mediterranean daylight brings definition to the flowers and the blue beyond the terrace; softer evening light creates a different mood for portraits. Allowing those changes to shape the images helps the film carry the atmosphere of a wedding in Santorini, from the energy of the ceremony to quieter moments together.

El Viento Santorini Wedding Videography

Filming a wedding at El Viento means working thoughtfully with an expansive backdrop. Wide views establish the location, but the story also needs the details happening within it: the couple’s reactions, the guests around them and the brief moments that connect one part of the celebration to the next. In Kirilly and Rikumi’s wedding video, the colourful ceremony setting and petal-filled walk provide a visual language that belongs specifically to their day.

Our approach as a Santorini wedding videographer is to build that sense of continuity through framing, movement and the rhythm of the edit. We look for images that work together, so that a panoramic view feels connected to the celebration and a close-up has room to register. A cinematic wedding film should let the viewer experience the setting while staying close to the couple.

A Film with Their Own Sense of Adventure

Rikumi’s affectionate description of them as “Mr. and Mrs. Worldwide” captured their shared humour. Their promises also made room for quieter happiness: cups of tea, meals together and another walk. That love of exploring continued on their Swiss honeymoon, where Kirilly recreated in Zermatt a picture Rikumi had made for her birthday.

Those personal touches guide how we approach destination wedding videography in Greece. The location gives each film its surroundings; the couple gives it its character. For Kirilly and Rikumi, El Viento’s caldera views, vibrant flowers and joyful ceremony became part of a Santorini wedding film that reflects both their travels and the life they share.
